The Weapons Of Our Warfare

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled
Ephesians 6: 1-12
Our last lesson on commitment focused on discovering, developing and using (D.D.U) our gifts in church. We also discovered what it means to be committed in Christ’s Church and the things you can do in Christ Home to show your commitment and hence aid you in discovering, developing and using your gifts.
In this lesson we are going to discuss the relationship
between our spiritual weapons (armour) and submitting to church authority.
To submit to church authority means to fully accept the control and authority of the church over your life and your activities.
In Ephesians 6: 1-12 the apostle Paul concludes his letter to the church by talking about spiritual warfare. He however begins the chapter by urging all to submit.
Let us consider these points about Spiritual armour and submitting to church authority.
· An armour is defined as a special set of clothing and equipment used by soldiers to attack and defend themselves during warfare
· As per our first point anyone who puts on armour is a soldier in battle.
· Hence every Christian is a soldier of Christ in battle, because Paul urges us to put on the whole armour of God. Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God…
· Our battle is not a physical one but a spiritual battle against Satan and his evil spirits and hence our armour is not physical but a spiritual one. II Cor. 10 verse 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.
· Every Christian is called to battle, there is no middle zone you are either fighting against the devil or fighting for the devil.
· The devil will attack you whether you attack him or not. Some Christians have the false believe that if they do not touch Satan He will not attack back.
· We must therefore spend effective time in prayer and the study of the word. We must take hold of territories in prayer and insist that Satan flees from anything that is given to us by the word of God.
